Microscopy Core

CORE MANAGER: ADAM FRIES

Adam.Fries@ucsf.edu, 415-514-3927

The DRC Microscopy Core consolidates, enhances and disseminates Diabetes Center resources and expertise in tissue and cell imaging technologies. Confocal fluorescence, widefield fluorescence, high throughput fluorescence and brightfield microscopes are available directly within the DRC Microscopy Core. Image quantification and analysis is performed at dedicated workstations. Electron Microscopy is scheduled through the Core Manager (Adam.Fries@ucsf.edu, 415-514-3927).

Please see SERVICES for more details about any component of the DRC Microscopy Core. Research laboratories are provided with ready access to (see SCHEDULE USE), and training (see TRAINING) in the proper use of the equipment.

The Core distributes the costs of maintaining sophisticated equipment across its many users through a recharge system (see RATES). If available, Core personnel also may directly perform studies on a fee-basis. The Core, in collaboration with similar Core facilities on campus (see LINKS), also helps to identify emerging technologies that will enhance multiple research programs and coordinates the acquisition and maintenance of those facilities. FEEDBACK on available or missing services is always appreciated.
